REPORTS

1.     Father Mark received a response from the Chancery regarding the constitution for the Pastoral Council. The letter stated their support of Father and that it is up to him to makes changes, as he deems necessary. He will ask for input from a subcommittee when he’s ready to proceed.

2.     The lists of ministries and groups have been submitted for publication in the bulletin.

3.     Guitar Mass: Marisa observed a Youth Mass at St. Andrew’s with young people providing the music. It was very well attended. The plan is to offer a similar type of Mass at St. Peter’s in September. Contact one of the key people planning the youth Mass to see if any members of the Terra Nova Band would like to participate.

4.     Basketball Mass is planned for the 9:00 Mass on March 18th.

5.     Fundraising:

a.     Vivian has identified that the Dinner Dance had the best response of all the ideas presented. She has begun planning for a “Divine Dinner” to raise money to replace the roof for the Religious Education building. Vivian has worked out details with Luigi’s Restaurant; she has many auction items available.

b.     E-Waste was second in votes.

6.     A wheelchair will be kept in the church in case of emergency. Many thanks go out to the Lion’s Club for their generosity and to Steve and Sherry Hansel for coordinating the efforts.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS:

1)    Deepen our faith:

a.     Vatican approved, Eucharistic Miracles of the World, offers posters, books and flyers describing the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist. The depictions and narratives show many miracles of the Eucharist.

b.     A second set of posters is called “Angels and Demons” showing some of the encounters of the saints.

c.     We can have the posters printed, laminated and then display near the Chapel and on the weekend, in the Narthex. The posters could be rotated constantly since there are 140 miracles depicted.

d.     A different Eucharistic Miracle can be projected on the overhead before Mass each weekend.

2)    In promoting and defending the Catholic married life, the American Bishops have written a Pastoral Letter, “Love and Life and the Divine Plan”.  Father suggested creating a committee to creatively bring this information to the parish.

3)    Strong Catholic Family, Strong Catholic Youth program: Elizabeth Neapolitan, DRE, has been working with parents to bring this program to our parish.

4)    Second Harvest Food Bank offers food for those in need. Applications can be found in the Narthex.

NEW BUSINESS:

1.     Fr. Probst will be the speaker for our Lenten Retreat. He is a Dominican from St. Albert’s in Oakland and a popular preacher.

2.     Daughters of Isabella will serve coffee and donuts on March 11 after the 7:30 am and 9:00 am Masses. After the 11:00 am Mass they will offer lunch and an opportunity to get to know members of this spiritual and charitable organization.

The meeting ended at 8:40pm.

Closing prayer facilitated by Diane Gallo.
